It Begins with a Choice

Some say it all begins with a choice. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you find a project to share with the world. In a world that is filled with more and more reasons to isolate ourselves from one another, it seems to be getting way too easy to find an excuse why you should not help someone else. For us, it began by making a choice.

When we decided to take on this project we knew it wouldn’t be easy - nothing in life ever is… But, we also realized that the struggles that children around the world are going through right now are more daunting than ever before. This global pandemic threatens to undo the lives of so many children, and we don’t want to stand aside. This journey has been a major project and also a blessing that words can’t describe. While the full impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is unknown, the World Bank estimates that an additional 88 million to 115 million people will fall into extreme poverty in 2020, with the total rising to as many as 150 million by 2021. So, instead of waiting for the world to grant us a better forecast of circumstances, we decided to step forward and act.

Together in collaboration with so many people, we were able to feed over a hundred people with our first event! So much of what we do isn’t measured in dollars but moments. The moment when we decided to work and not wait for a better time, the moments we can give a meal to someone in need, the moments we can give out some hope to children, the moments we see children with a smile on their face, the moments we see volunteers step forward and help. It all begins with a choice, a decision was made to say “Yes, I want to help” over anything else.
